ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that gender equality is essential for the socio-economic development of the country and economic development of women is the first priority. It is important to have equal representation in all walks of life. Addressing a function organized by SDGs 5 on the occasion of International Women's Day on the theme of empowerment of women and girls, Asad Qaiser said that gender equality was essential for the socio-economic development of the country.
He said that economic development of women is a top priority and according to Article 25, women must be given equal representation in all walks of life. "We must give equal representation to women in all fields to save our future generations from poverty and hunger," she said.

"We have to take special measures for the economic development of women. Only an educated woman can properly train her family in the true sense of the word," she said.
She said that we should all be aware of the problems of women living in our society. She said that in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development, women must be empowered. They are also playing a vital role in the construction process. Asad Qaiser said that the present parliament was committed to empowering women and ensuring their participation in the legislative process.
