March 10, 2022) The bad news for the people who buy from utility stores that ghee and coking oil has been made more expensive before Ramadan.  According to media reports, before the holy month, ghee and coking oil have been made more expensive at utility stores, under which the price of ghee has been increased up to Rs 15 per kg. Similarly, coking oil has also gone up by Rs 15 per liter.  A price increase notification has been issued, which will be implemented immediately.


 Meanwhile, the government is preparing to give big Ramadan package on utility stores. It is proposed to give Ramadan relief package of Rs. 8 billion 28 crore on utility stores under which 19 essential items are likely to be subsidized.  It is proposed to allocate Rs 4.5 billion for ghee, Rs 2.534 billion for flour and Rs 75 crore for sugar.

 According to City 42 News, a subsidy of Rs 25 million is proposed for basmati rice, Rs 10 million for sesame rice, Rs 36 million for broken rice, Rs 30 million for dal gram, Rs 30 million for dal masoor and Rs 50 million for white gram.  The government had announced a Ramadan package of Rs 7.84 billion last year.


 On the other hand, the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) said in its weekly report on inflation that the prices of 19 items have gone up in one week.  The new price of LPG has gone up by Rs 217.57 per cylinder and the new price has gone up by Rs 2306 to Rs 2523. Similarly, the price of a packet of ghee is Rs 16.71 and a tin of 2.5 kg ghee is Rs 38.56.  The price of mustard oil has gone up by Rs12.33 per kg, powdered milk by Rs5.69 per kg, as well as hot spices, yogurt, tea leaves, mutton and fresh milk.


 According to the report, prices of 13 items, including tomatoes at Rs 37.28 per kg, eggs at Rs 10.71 per dozen, petrol and diesel at Rs 10 per liter, including garlic, pulses, sugar, onions and jaggery, have declined in recent weeks.  The prices of 19 items remained stable this week.
